Adopt.comThe Adopt.com website provides information, news and resources for people who are considering adopting a child or currently going through the adoption process. The decision to adopt is a major life changing event and should not be taken lightly. For Adoption in Texas, adopt.com offers basic information about “What is Adoption?” as well as state contact information for various government departments, including the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The Texas page on the Adopt website also lists the Basic Requirements, Additional Foster Care Requirements, and Responsibilities of Foster and Adoptive Families.

For International adoptions, Adopt.com provides adoption information for nearly 60 different countries, including Thailand, Cambodia, China, Haiti, Burma, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Vietnam, and Guatemala. For many countries, the most recent data and information provided on the website was in 2006 or 2008. Adoption information for many countries is still listed as “under construction” on the adopt.com website. Some general travel information and Health Warnings are also provided by the Adopt website for some of the countries listed.

Adopt.com additionally offers a forum to allow users to discuss the challenges of adoption; however the forum is also currently “Under Construction.”
