The Actuaries website provides information for current and perspective members of the IAA, (the International Actuarial Association) and works to encourage the development of actuary positions as a global profession. The IAA works to represent the actuarial profession so that it is acknowledged as both professionally reliable and technically competent in order to serve the public interest. According to Actuaries.org, the IAA also works to encourage research, develop standards for education, and promote professionalism to address the changing needs of the profession.

From information available on Actuaries.org, the IAA is divided into 7 main sections: 1) AFIR/ERM (Actuarial Approach for Financial Risks), 2) ASTIN (Actuarial Studies in Non-Life Insurance), 3) AWB (Actuaries Without Borders), 4) IAAHS (International Actuarial Association Health Section), 5) IACA (International Association of Consulting Actuaries, 6) IAALS (International Actuarial Association Life Section), and PBSS (Pensions, Benefits, Social Security). The first official section of the IAA was ASTIN, which was started in 1957 in order to promote actuarial research. The most recent section addition was the IAALS, which was not added until 2005. The IAALS promotes research in the realm of life insurance on an international level through the exchange of knowledge as well as actuaries research initiatives.
