NAICS.comThe North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is used by business and government to classify and measure economic activity in Canada, Mexico and the United States. NAICS was developed to be used by Federal statistical agencies as the standard in classifying business establishments in order to collect, analyse, and publish statistical data related to business economy.

NAICS was developed under the patronage of the Office of Management and Budget in order to replace the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system that was previously used. This system was developed in cooperation with the statistical agencies of Canada and Mexico in order to set up a standard for the countries involved that permits a high level of comparison in business statistics.
