First Monday Trade Days began in the 1850s when the city of Canton had a District Judge stop by the first Monday of every month to hold court sessions. Due to this event, people brought produce, livestock, and goods to buy, sell, pr trade.
Since then the event has grown and hosts up to 7,000 vendors and 300,000 visitors. The day has also changed even though the name remains, it is now held from Thursday to Sunday before the first Monday of every month.
