FindErr.net – Learn The Meaning Of Localized Errors

FindErr.netYou might not know it, but error messages are often localized. This means that if you are a software vendor and you have shipped an application internationally, then the error messages you are going to see will be in the language spoken by your clients.

If you have shipped something to Japan, the messages you will see when there is a problem will be in Japanese. If your clients are in Brazil, then the messages that will be displayed to you will be in Portuguese.

That is frustrating for sure, and it is the direct result of frameworks such as .NET providing localized versions of native error messages. And until now, when such a situation raised its incomprehensible head there was little you could do. Because not even the best dictionary around could have helped you.

Well, this website attempts to put an end to all that. What it does is to bring together localized versions of different error messages. You get an error, you just look up its direct equivalent. It’s as straightforward as that.

So far, .NET, Windows and Microsoft SQL error messages are supported. More frameworks are on the way, so watch this space for further news.
