Altaregional.org – Community Services for Northern California

Altaregional.org is the website of Alta California Regional Center, an organization that assists people who have developmental issues in the Sacramento, California area. This includes people with mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism, with the goal of maximizing each person’s opportunities and life choices. Altaregional acts as a collaborating partner, linking people in need to available community resources, and acting as a payor of last resort in cases where services either do not exist or are not available.

The site is quite feature-rich; altaregional.org has a “Happenings” calendar in the center of the homepage that lists upcoming events, meetings and links to further information. There are a number of documents referenced in the right column of the altaregional.org page, seeking volunteers, detailing whistleblower policies and describing employment opportunities at the center. The main menu is logically arranged in the left column. It describes the various communities altaregional serves, the services they have to offer and eligibility information. There are many resources linked to the altaregional.org page, which is to be expected for such a clearinghouse site. There is information for both families and service providers, and the full Board of Directors of altaregional is listed. Visitors have the option of searching any page or the entire site for needed information, and may print or enlarge text in order to improve the viewing experience. There are many pictures of clients being served, and people may contact altaregional.org in a number of different ways – through email, via phone or postal mail are all supported on the site.
