StickyBits.com – Bridging The Digital & Physical Worlds

StickyBits.comStickyBits is a new initiative that aims to bring the digital and physical worlds closer. This is done in the following way: you place a sticker with a bar code in any object in the “real” world, and from that point onwards you will be able to add digital content to it.

This includes pictures, music and even videos. When another person scans the code at a later date, he will be able to see all that media, as well as tweets and related messages.

These stickers can be bought in packs of twenty through the site, and they are designed to be as durable as possible. The bad codes can also be directly printed on the object – the company has already teamed with Zazzle, and any object that you can buy there can come with a code printed on it. Some of the items that you can already buy and have printed include shirts, shoes, hats, mugs and office supplies on the whole.

The idea is potentially appealing when one thinks of the uses this can have – just imagine how a system like this one could benefit locals and foreigners trying to find their way around a city. But that will be in the days to come, though. As it stands, this is an interesting service that will hopefully gain the necessary momentum to move into its next developmental stage.
