Startup one-liner:

Three Archers Games creates games that hit the mark that are both educational and entertaining for families and kids of all ages.

Problem the startup solves:

The COVID-19 pandemic had a devastating impact on student education including a massive decline in test scores in both reading and math. Educators had difficult jobs before the pandemic, and now are contending with huge new challenges, many outside their control. Although most people consider card games to be just another pastime activity, studies indicate that playing card games can offer numerous educational, emotional as well as psychological benefits, ranging from improved math skills to an increased sense of self-esteem.

Our games are co-created and co-designed by an educator of over 30 years who recognizes the benefits of play in socio-emotional leaning as well as helping to refine and reinforce educational skills in a variety of ways. Our games are not only designed to be entertaining and fun for kids and families at home, but can also be used as a teaching tool in classrooms to engage children and help them develop rudimentary skills by using play instead of lessons. In short, children will be learning and developing math skills without even realizing they are doing it. It is our mission not to be branded as an educational game company, but to in essence, create games that kids and families will love while also providing educational benefits.

Progress and current status:

Our first game is called One Two Many Rabbits which is currently live on Kickstarter at We funded the project in only a week and will be using the funds to produce our first run of games that will be distributed and sold online, in independent retail shops and educational catalogs and shops.

What is a crazy story about the startup?:

My wife and I actually are no strangers to the board game world. Back in 2005, we created a company called Platypus Games and over the next three years we released two award winning titles. One of our games, Jumbulaya: The Rearranging, Ever Changing Word Jumble Game won a Games Magazine Word Game Of The Year award as well as a Mensa Mind Games award. We thought we were on our way, but we unfortunately made some business arrangements with some less than honest people in the industry. In short, they stole money out of our pockets and we were forced to settle up our accounts and shuttle our doors due to a lack of resources and funds to keep going. Twelve years later, after seeing the devastation that COVID left in its wake and realizing that life is too short not to bet on yourself again, we launched Three Archers, LLC with the intention of entering the games market again with a number of card, dice and board games to pick up where we left off and devise games to help kids, families and teachers use play as a method to teach, learn and, of course, have fun.

What is a company the startup looks up to, and why?:

We are a great admirer of Disney as both a company and a brand. They have been a part of the lives of so many generations for so many years and their films, characters and products are still going as strong as ever. While there will probably never be another Disney, we do hope that our games and our current and future products will have a lasting and profound impact on the people who play our games.

The company in four years will be…

In four years, we will have four titles released and available online and in retail stores around the globe and available in a variety of languages. We already have several of these games designed and developed, but the layouts for the artwork, themes still need refinement. We are just getting started.
