Startup one-liner:

Ophelia, the demigod girl with a magic paintbrush

Problem the startup solves:

We offer premium art in our storybooks for all ages. Our team of over 30 international artists are given sufficient time to produce their best work and get paid fairly. While many comic and anime companies lower their standard of quality to enable quick production and predictable sales, we aim to raise that bar. It is our belief that in doing so we can influence people to produce work that makes life better for those it influences, no matter their calling.

Progress and current status:

We only have 3 or 4 artworks to finish out of around 40. We launched our first storybook on Kickstarter on November 29th, and should have the project complete in December.

Example of premium art:

What is a crazy story about the startup?:

Sometimes setbacks bring about our best qualities. In late 2020 when working with a sole artist from Hong Kong, he inevitably got busy and distracted after completing some initial sketches. This got me thinking of a new type of book that would be safe from artists jumping ship partway through. I decided to make use of the amazing artistic talent found online and commission not just one artist, but potentially a new artist for every image in the book. Rather than a shift in style between artists being a jarring change, the variety and novel viewpoints present in the various life histories and cultural influences page to page is our best quality.

What is a company the startup looks up to, and why?:

Studio Ghibli has produced works of the highest standard, and defies clich├ęs and paradigms despite great risk. We have learned from them that it is not worthwhile to create unless we are doing our best.

The company in four years will be…

Mega famous, leaving many inspired and influenced by our art-rich fiction.
