Gabriel Gillespie, Founder,

Startup one-liner:

Turning Commuters into couriers for affordable same day delivery in secondhand markets

Problem the startup solves:

Secondhand markets like OfferUp/FB Marketplace are friction filled and full of doubt still. OmneShip looks to create a same day delivery platform within them for people to reduce meeting in parking lots and buy or sell their goods quickly and safely.

Progress and Current Status:

OmneShip soft launched in December and worked out our mobile app bugs quickly. We fully launched in San Diego in January and since then have recruited over 60 users and close to 70 drivers with the majority all in San Diego County. We have mobile apps in both the Apple and Google store, and our shipping portal is on the website.

website at www.omneship.comWhat is an Inspiring Story about the Startup?:

I decided to leave the Marine Corps after nine years in 2022 when I saw that there was so much difficulty in the private sector with everyday good people trying to make ends meet, small businesses trying to grow out their business to support themselves (especially during and with Covid) and the friction that existed in secondhand markets that were rapidly growing. I thought I saw a way to combine all three of these together with a platform like OmneShip that gives businesses or people opportunities for safer, faster, high-quality deliveries, and daily commuters to have the autonomy to throw a lamp, package or something else vehicle sized and move it across town and still go about their day to day lives. Everyone wins when you have a platform that connects enough people to utilize the underlying grids we all interact with daily!

What is a Company the Startup Looks Up to, and Why?:

Drover ai. A micro mobility company that is invested in innovating applications of artificial intelligence combined with computer vision to improve micro-mobility and enable its long term success as a sustainable urban transportation solution. Their CEO has worked closely with me while I was initially working on my start up, and provided me with invaluable information and guidance on the proper ways to start this venture.

The Company in Four Years Will Be…

In four years, OmneShip will be hopefully in every major city west of the Mississippi and in a strategic partnership with a secondhand platform like Facebook or OfferUp or a large e-commerce platform like eBay for the hyper local deliveries and returns, also exploring developing a high security version of OmneShip that will use individuals with higher level of training for a “rent an armored car” delivery platform for the luxury and high value items.
