Problem the startup solves:
Connecting to APIs, scraping the web, and running data enrichments can be a pain if you don’t have coding skills. Through our platform, anyone can gather data from the web for competitive intelligence, ML, and lead gen, as well as enrich data that they already have using 100+ pre-built data enrichments.
Progress and Current Status:
Raised a small VC round in April, currently emerging out of Beta, thousands of active users (mostly free), featured as #2 product of the day on Product Hunt 1 year ago (re-launching this month), currently have the largest marketplace of managed data APIs in the world.
What is a Crazy Story about the Startup?:
Co-founder and I met through a Facebook group – met once for 30 minutes, discussed equity & responsibilities for another 15 minutes at our next meeting, and spent the last 1.5 years basically living together building databar.ai. Pretty crazy how we didn’t vet each other at all – just intuitively decided to work together and have been on this rollercoaster ride ever since.
What is a Company the Startup Looks Up to, and Why?:
We admire Notion, because they have executed the whole Product Led Growth motion and bottoms up approach to a tee. Paired with a beautiful UI (user experience) and an easy, yet powerful set of features, that’s ultimately what we are streaming towards – an easy but powerful tool that anyone can use.
The Company in Four Years Will Be…
The universal platform for external data and data enrichment via APIs. We’re taking a bottoms-up approach, so we’re looking to get this product into the hands of as many users as possible and we’re looking to make it as accessible as possible. Databar.ai is hopefully going to be synonymous with data APIs.
