No sooner had a service like Pandamian been released (we originally reviewed it here) than a competitor had to come along. And a powerful competitor at that, it must be said. PressBooks lets you have books outputted in all the formats that are used more often today. These include PDF, ePub, HTML and XML. The site lets you author a book in any of these formats, for free, and then have it both shared and/or printed.

When signing up for a PressBooks.com account you’ll be getting your own, personalized URL, and you’ll be able to tag all that you post there as either public or private. It’s all up to you, you can let every person who visits the site read what you’re working on, or keep thing between yourself and your closest friends. Or even your publisher. Connecting writers with their publishing agents… a service like PressBooks could lend itself greatly to such a use.
