Check.fm – Let Those You Care About Know Where You Are

Check.fmIt wouldn’t be entirely inaccurate to term Check.fm a location-based service.

It is not that Check.fm could be compared to Foursquare or the recently-released Facebook Places. But it is a service that revolves around the place you are located at.

To be precise, what Check.fm does is to notify the people you have designated beforehand that you have arrived at a specific location. That is, you arrive at a place, and upon checking in the people that you want is informed of your whereabouts via a text message.

Using this service is a matter of signing up for an account and then proceeding to add the people that you want Check.fm to have notified when you are at the place in question.

This is an interesting service. Anything that has got ties with location based networking is. Still, I am sure that Check.fm will be enhanced and updated beyond this point for the mere reason that the service which is provided lends itself to much more. We’ll have to wait and see what’s in store.
