I have seen more than a few applications for the downloading of files hosted on YouTube, and when reviewing those sites I always wondered if there is one truly comprehensive that encompasses other portals like DailyMotion, Metacafe, Veoh et al. It seems the answer is an affirmative one, because after browsing from site to site I came across SaveVideo.
In general terms, it is a young site that will let you save video files hosted on the following portals: YouTube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, Veoh, Flickr, Google and Blip.tv.
The process is the standard one in these cases: you paste the relevant URL in the provided box and after choosing the screen resolution that will suit you best you proceed to have the video downloaded. You can also set the format of the video itself from FLV, MP4 and 3GP.
It is all very fast and straightforward, and the fact that so many portals are supported by default will be the tipping factor in the eventual acceptance that this site might have. I just wonder if a bookmarklet will be added sometime soon.
