Plootu.com – Creating & Sharing Tourist Guides

Plootu.comPlootu is a Spanish startup that renders a service I find quite valuable. In essence, the site (which is available in English and in Spanish) lets locals and people who are very knowledgeable about any specific place create to a tourist guide that can then be shared with absolutely everybody.

This is done via Twitter, Facebook and Delicious. Guides are created at no cost, and the eventual idea is to share them physically as well through touristic information booths.

The site is unnecessarily limited as it stands right now, as not many territories are covered and the documentation is not 100 % translated into English. I think that opening up to the rest of the world should be the next (and immediate) step this company should give, and although the service won’t be exactly useful to people in the States right now (unless they are planning to visit Spain this summer) the concept at the heart of it is good. The value of local knowledge is something that should not be obviated, and I hope that this site goes beyond its current point if only because there is an untapped market lit could mine

Plootu.com In Their Own Words

“Tourist guides on a click.”

Why Plootu.com It Might Be A Killer

The basic concept is very interesting, and it would be a pity if the site does not become more internationalized.
