Take your favorite light comm presence app—Twitter, of course—mix it up with Tweetscan, the real time search engine for Twitter, and throw in some Yahoo Pipes action and you get TweetWire, the first human filtered Twitter news service. It looks similar to any regular news aggregator, except that the links are picked by humans and not robots, which therefore makes for more interesting leads and stories. You’ve got four rudimentary categories—the 2008 Elections, Tech, Sports, and Celebrity. The twitter links to each story have been shortened using TinyURL. TweetWire also has links to... read more

So here’s one more Twitter app to tweet about: Twitgraph. No, Twitgraph isn’t about measuring the antics of the Bush administration nor is it a measure of the personal growth of politicians, movies stars, or clowns. Twitgraph is actually a measure of you and your tweets. If you tweet like a madman and consider you tweet skills something fierce, you might be happy to know how your Twitter stats stack up. Head over to Twitgraph to see. Enter your... read more

Twitsori is a social experiment based on Twitter. It’s got a minimalistic thing going with a black screen and bold headlines to the left side which read love, hate, think, believe, feel, and wish. This provocative line up of headlines is indeed just what the experiment is all about. We all know that Twitter is the outlet for expressing the most trivial desires, many of which have to do with the previous headings. Thus Twitsori pulls in public tweets which have to do with love, hate, etc. The tweets are then published as a never ending river of thoughts. The concept is based on We Feel ... read more

Another Twitter app headed your way is Twitmonials. It basically allows you to give testimonials about your friends via Twitter. Say whatever you want following @yitu (yitu stands for Why I Twit You). Be sure to keep it short and snappy. The latest Twitmonials are posted on the site’s homepage. So far most tweets appear jovial and kind; of course, you can testify any way you want. There is a search bar allowing you to search for users. Results show both Twitmonials received and given by any one particular user. All in all, this app is really quite basic, but looks interesting.... read more

Flaptor, whose flagship product Hounder, provides users with an unparalleled search and data mining capability, have recently launched a real time search engine for Twitter. The Twitter Search page consists of a simple search bar that reaps incredibly rapid results. The engine is designed to allow users to search “tweets” in real time for any term they can think of. A test search for the term “Obama” brought back over 600 tweets with a time delay of about 10-minutes. While it sometimes appears that there are more Twitter apps currently underdevelopment than people to develop them, ... read more

If you’re really into keeping up your Twitter account, even if you’re offline, TweetLater lets you create tweets scheduled for the future. Your Twitter stream will be constantly flowing. Here’s an example. Let’s say you’re on a long overhaul flight to Australia; this means you’ll be without your computer for at least some 10 hours, most likely more. Rather than leaving Twitter so woefully unattended, you can keep your tweets a-going by inputting them before you leave. For instance you could try, ‘I’m in the air, hoping this plane doesn’t crash, or ‘the food up here is t... read more

The new buzz in the Twitter neighborhood is all about TweetClouds. This is another Twitter app that uses the service’s API to create word clouds based on the most frequently used words in any given Twitterer’s tweets. Of course you can only produce clouds from public Twitter accounts—private member accounts are off limits. The more prominent a word is in a cloud, the more it’s used. The most abused terms will appear bold and large. Do keep in mind that TweetClouds isn’t your most speedy app—it takes about .04 seconds per tweet, so be prepared to wait. The end result can be pr... read more

And the Twitter apps keep rollin’ in. Keeping your Twitter fixation alive and well there’s now TweetStats, which basically graphs your stats. It’s a rather simple app with the sole premise of providing you with your (and perhaps others) Twitter use statistics. It will graph your total tweets by the month, by the day, and by the hour. It also tells you then number of replies @ and which interface you used to Twitter your tweets. Each graph employs color coded bars to differentiate distinct factors/numbers. The most popular Twitter interface appears to be the web, with Twitterific co... read more

Does a day go by without a new Twitter app being made? Apparently not. Here’s another one for you. TwitterLocal is a rather cool new Twitter app which lets you filter out Tweets by location. You can generate an RSS or XML feed to pull up Tweets from a certain area as specified by city, state, postal code, and a mile radius you want to include. Once you’ve got those deets typed in, press the handy ‘Go’ button and you’ll instantly get URLs to add to your feed reader. There are two options for you to choose from. First you’ve got your basic web app which works perfectly well in... read more
