Opinionated? Awesome! Now Have Fun And Post It Where People Care – On Amirite

Got an opinion you want to share with the world? Of course you do. Seriously, I’ve got the site for you. It’s a cool new social network where a community of users can share their opinions on anything and I do mean, anything.

Amirite (Am I right) is a London based startup where users post thoughts, ideas, and opinions on anything and everything to the community. It’s like your Facebook or Twitter feed on steroids. It’s seriously good.

The way it works is that members post an opinion and then other members vote with a “Yeah” or a “No Way.” Topics range from the very personal to politics, to the very funny and absurd.

I’ve read some of the most hilarious comments and opinions on Amirite this morning (some of which I can’t write into this article) and I have to say, so far, one my favorites has been “Captain Planet is just creating an army of hippies when he ‘saves the planet,’ Amirite?” I wish I could share with you some of the best things I read on the site this morning, but for that I invite to you visit the page yourself and take a look.

The community of Amirite is definitely going to grow and it’s going to grow quickly. Amirite has recently emerged from beta and it’s already flying high with over 2 million unique visitors per month.

A cool feature of the site is that the posts can either be text based or image based. Makes sense. This of course means that you can filter the posts when viewing and voting, which for someone like me, makes it easier to check out a bunch of images and get my laugh on. (I’ve been laughing out loud all morning with Amirite).

There are even “hot topics” which show what users are most commonly talking about so that adds another filter by which you can jump right in. The navigation is straightforward and intuitive, so it’s really easy to get involved.

Also, this isn’t just a web based application. Of course, you can post and read through your browser, but there’s also a touch version of the site for smartphones and tablets that makes posting and viewing from your portable device a seamless experience. Not only that, users can access a “mobile” version of the site on their device browser which loads quickly and gets you right into the discussion. The best part: there’s a free iPhone app available that get’s you straight into the game from your beloved iPhone or iPad. There’s even a forum for your pleasure.

Amirite features include:

  • Favoring posts and ‘loving’ comments to bookmark them.
  • User accounts with profiles and avatars.
  • Users can send messages to each other.
  • A Post of the Day at the top of every home page.
  • A notification system for iDevice users.
  • Users earn achievements for reaching milestones.
  • Choice of different color themes.
  • Many privacy options. Users can go ‘anonymous’ and make posts without revealing their username.
  • You can make posts and comments without needing to create an account.

Really, I encourage to give Amirite a spin, if not sign up entirely. There’s a wealth of content that will get you thinking, steaming, or laughing in no time. It’s great.

The owners of amirite.com and its subsidiaries wish to remain anonymous at present but have actively been in contact with investors and venture capitals for seed capital.
