Today’s Killer Startup: Class

Elevator Pitch:

Class is the fastest hotel booking app, booking frequent travelers in the closest four star hotel.

Why It’s A Killer Startup:

I’m not sure that anyone really likes booking hotels, unless they have like, an unlimited budget or are going on a much-anticipated vacation. However, the people that need to book hotels most often – business travelers – usually don’t have either of those. What they do have is a specific location where some kind of work event is going to happen.

That doesn’t mean, however, that they should have to sacrifice comfort for convenience. That’s the philosophy behind Class: booking a hotel should be fast and easy but the service you get once you’re there should always be top-notch.

Class lets users put a pin on a map for wherever they need to be on their trip and then pulls up the nearest four star hotel. The entire process – from pin drop to reservation booked – takes under six seconds, making them the fastest hotel booking app out there.

Class also offers surprise rewards, ranging from upgrades to free breakfast to dinners at top-rated hotels. If you’re lucky, you might even get an upgrade to the nearest five star hotel. Unlike most loyalty programs, which are tied to certain chains, Class’ rewards only require you to book through the app.

Class was started by and two guys who quit their day jobs and decided to apply to AngelCube in Melbourne. After the trial and error – and multiple iterations – that so many of us are familiar with, they created Class. The app is now one of the top 20 in Australia and is slated for a US launch soon. Keep an eye on this one if you’re planning on doing a lot of business travel in 2015! And be sure to say hi if you spot the lads from Class at SXSW this week.
