Internal.org – Online Poetry Collection

Internal.orgA collection of poetry can be found at Internal.org.

The site describes it as “a modest collection of works”. This assessment is correct inasmuch only 16 poets are featured, but it must be said that the 16 poets covered are among the best-loved poets in history. Both American and English poets are featured. These include Laureates such as Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Alfred Lord Tennyson (one of the voices of Victorian poetry par excellence, alongside his great contemporary Rudyard Kipling, who had the distinction of being the first Englishman to receive the Nobel Prize for literature in the year 1907). Romantic poets are also represented as there are several works by Lord Byron, one of the most representative writers of the movement, both in terms of his body of work and outrageous personal life. As far as Americans are concerned, Walt Whitman and his contemporary Ralph Waldo Emerson are included. It would have been great if Henry W. Longfellow would have been included as well, and the same goes for Emily Dickinson. More recent poets are included as well, such as the modernist e. e. cummings (who often chose not to capitalize his name), and Sylvia Plath, the wife of the late Laureate Ted Hughes. Welsh poet Dylan Thomas is also featured. Internal.org
