Crmvet.org – Civil Rights Movement Veterans

Crmvet.orgThe Civil Right Movement Veterans website is an online resource kept by veterans of the Southern Freedom Movement of the 1960’s. As the webmaster explains, the media refers to the movement itself as the “Civil Right Movement”, and that is the name that the general public more readily associates with the movement, but properly speaking it should be called “Freedom Movement” as it encompassed much more than simply civil rights.

The site itself pays homage to those men who had the courage to change their lives by themselves, and it has the objective of having the story told by those who did in fact live it. The movement is documented online by means of a timeline and pages such as “Documents” and “Our Stories”. For its part, a section entitled “In Memory” is devoted to members who have passed away, whereas a page named “Veterans Roll Call” presents the visitor with information on the surviving personalities and members. A bibliography is likewise provided for easy reference. Crmvet.org
