Zilok is a French startup that recently began business in the US. The site allows you to rent anything you want to whomever you want and make money from it. You can search for items to rent by category (Parties and Events, Sports and Leisure, Electronics and Computers, etc.), by keyword (drill, camera, etc.), or by location. Zilok believes location is the number one factor in whether a rental transaction will occur. With Zilok, you can rent a poker table and chips to people who are looking to use it for a casino themed party, or rent out your prom dress that you wore once and will never be able to get away with again, or rent a parking space for your car during a holiday. Rent an iPhone for $8 per day for up to 15 days (why is someone renting out their iPhone??). Zilok provides the rental agreement, so all you have to do is arrange the exchange of the item being rented, pay any sort of potential deposit, then return the item and pay for the rental. You could potentially create your own version of Netflix by renting out your DVD collection. There are lots of possibilities for the site, and trust in the rental exchange will go up with ratings similar to those used on eBay to confirm that renters are reliable based on previous transactions.

Zilok has had a positive response so far in France, and people have already started to post items for rent on the US site. There are plenty of items that people have lying around their house that they never could use and could make a buck on by renting it to those needing that item for whatever event. Instead of storing up tons of costumes from each Halloween, people will be able to rent them, potentially cheaper, from this site. The company will easily make a profit from the posting cost for each item on the site.
