Silkfair.com - Manage Your Own Online Store

    silkfair

Silkfair.com takes its name from the from the Silk Road trade route that linked eastern and western commerce. SilkFair, in a similar vein, attempts to link vendors and buyers from around the world, in a forum that allows them to comprehensively showcase (and browse) the goods for sale. SilkFair provides vendors with free shops and a unique URL, and their products are presented with ample space for description and the option to include video. Buyers can purchase items with all standard forms of payment- paypal and major credit cards. All items can be posted to social networking sites, to expand publicity of a given item or share them with friends.

    In their own words

“At Silkfair we aim to be the premier e-commerce site for users to buy and sell their goods online. We are always looking to innovate and provide more great features and tools to our users.”

Why it might be a killer

In comparison to other sites, SilkFair really aims to make the vendor experience easier. Sellers can edit items without having to manually scroll through pages, and they can set up a unique URL under the SilkFair or a personal domain.

    Some questions

Even if SilkFair provides a more vendor-friendly experience, are the buyers really going to move from eBay to SilkFair?
