Considering that these days over 50% of US marriages end in divorce, it’s not surprising that a site like MyDivorceSales would crop up. Created with recent divorcees in mind, MyDivorceSales allows you to list items for sale that are left over after a break-up; cars, furniture, pets, etc. Like craigslist, you can create a listing for your item and provide a description and picture. Buyers can search the site for items using a keyword or category search, or they can check out recent and featured listings. When a buyer finds an item they’d like to purchase, it is up to him and the seller to agree on a price. Because MyDivorceSales doesn’t host financial transactions, the buyer and the seller must also agree on delivery details, exchange contact info, and discuss when and how the item will be paid for. To use MyDivorceSales, you’ll need to sign up for an account first.

“Use MyDivorceSales to sell & buy new and used items. Shop for homes, cars, boats, clothing, jewelry, electronics and everything else imaginable. Free local classifieds ads”
| Why it might be a killer | |||
The concept behind MyDivorceSales would probably appeal to any divorcee, so the site’s gimmick could be an asset. The personal story provided by the site’s creator adds an element of empathy to the site and could serve to attract potential users.
| Some questions | |||
It’s not clear if there is a charge for posting items on MyDivorceSales; is there a fee per listing? Can users pay by the month or subscribe for an entire year? The fact that MyDivorceSales is not held accountable for any failed transaction nor does it allow users to pay online like eBay might dissuade some users.

| I think it's a great site for anyone, I would defiantley prefer this site over Ebay, you have a chance of getting ripped off and on top of that you have to pay the shipping charges which could run high depending on what you buy. This is a very safe and friendly user site. I already had a few sales and it works out wonderful!!! If you have items to sell or looking to buy mydivorcesales.com is the place!!! | ||

| ha ha! I'd never before thought of how one could invent pretty much any startup simply by picking a random target audience. I'm not saying people shouldn't use this service — it seems like a perfectly reputable place for buying and selling. I am saying that there's absolutely no indication on the site why it is especially good for divorcees. It's like someone saying "Hey, the Church of Latter-Day Saints is on the rise, and they often use maps in proselytizing — we need to make a map service for Mormons!" Why shouldn't divorcees use eBay (or whatever) like everyone else does? | ||
