GreenDimes.com - Save Some Trees. Lose the Junk.

    greendimes

We all love to hate junk mail. It’s a waste of paper and tree lives. It takes up space and frankly, is more annoying than Ryan Seacrest. Most junk mail gets thrown out and shipped to the garbage heaps and incinerators tucked away in a small city corner near you. Save the environment, indeed. GreenDimes aims to change all this waste with an innovative if not slightly kooky manner. For $20, GreenDimes will get rid of 90% of your junk mail. How, you ask? They’ve got access to lists, and they’ll take you off them. Once you’ve signed up, your junk mail woes should shrink. And, on top of that, GreenDimes will plant 5 trees for you. You can choose which catalogs and non-profit mailings you want to be rid of. Renew the service for $10 a year or if you move. GreenDimes will monitor your mail monthly to ensure the junk doesn’t come back. Since its launch in September 2006, GreenDimes has helped almost 200,000 people and planted a forest full of trees.

    In their own words

“GreenDimes reduces the credit card offers, insurance offers, sweepstakes offers, coupon mailers, charitable solicitations and retail catalogs that your household receives. We can't reduce mailings that are the result of a personal relationship you have with the company or organization. These include magazine subscriptions, bank statements, brokerage statements and school alumni mailings.”

Why it might be a killer

GreenDimes offers a cheap and useable service that anyone who’s ever encountered the unwanted deluge of credit card offers, alumni donation mails, and catalogs will appreciate. It’s also a green service that helps the environment by planting trees. It can get much better than that.

    Some questions

Does GreenDimes truly get rid of 90% of junk mail? Does it work? Or is junk mail a never ending abattle that cannot be won? Who are GreenDimes partners? Where does the money go?
