Here’s the premise: you shell out a dollar for the chance to win some cash. Sounds familiar? Although it’s got the same gimmick, GiveOneBuck is not exactly a web based lottery; it is rather, one person’s slightly off beat attempt to earn money by ignoring standard marketing schemes and heading straight for the cash. The deal: cash prizes are given out in increments of $100, $1,000, $10,000, and $100,000—to have a chance at winning some of that money, first at least $1,000 needs to be raised, after which the first prize of $100 is given a way to one lucky dollar contributor. And so it goes for the rest—as soon as $10,000 is gathered, one player will win $1000 and so on. Besides having the chance to win big, contributors get a link back, and if their friends contribute $100, they get $50. Payments can be made via Paypal.

In their own words
“For every buck you give, you have the chance to win $100, $1,000, $10,000 and even $100,000.

Everytime $1,000 is gathered one of the users that gave money is randomly selected and wins $100. In the same way, for every $10,000 that is gathered one of the users that gave money will win $1,000. The same is available for $100,000. When $1,000,000 is reached, one user will win $100,000!!!

There will be 1,000 prizes of $100, 100 prizes of $1000, 10 prizes of $10,000 and one winner for the $100,000 prize.”
Why it might be a killer
One dollar isn’t that much these days what with the practical economic recession and the fact that people are willing to bet a dollar simply to get a chance to win $10,000. Besides that, they’ll get some cheap advertising thrown into the mix. Not a shabby idea, not conventional, but it is an easy way to make some cash without doing much work.
Some questions
Will this site ever attract enough donators/traffic to even make it to the $10,000 mark, let alone $1000? How are winners selected? How will they be notified if they win?
