    Deviantart.com - Buy&Sell Your Art

    deviantart

DeviantART was founded in 2000, and is one of the top 100 sites visited per day. It"s a popular meeting ground for artists (including photographers, painters and animators) and art-lovers. They have close to 40 million pieces of art posted for sale and they encourage artists to submit their pieces for consideration. This site was created by the underground community to share, publicize and make art accessible and available for everyone. You can buy your art or just view art from your favorite artist here, including clothes, and the site will collect a fee for the transaction. Recently DeviantArt acquired $3.4 million in funding, which can help them either purchase other sites or improve user services. The site is for the community by the community and demonstrates the power of the internet to revolutionize an industry.

    In their own words

Join the largest art community in the world! As a member, you can collect favourites, submit art, and track your friends and favourite artists. It is our intention to create the most powerful outlet in the world for known and unknown artists alike. Most importantly we intend to take our time to do it right. For the first time in history there is connection and communication between artists and fans on a massive scale. deviantART represents a breakthrough for the promotion and exposure of otherwise stranded artists in all corners of the globe. Our job is to make sense of the possibility, and craft it in a responsible manner.

Why it might be a killer

As one of the most popular sites on the internet, the site continues to grow and evolve, and in the process revolutionize the art industry.

    Some questions

I love art, but I admit I am not crazy about their dark grey design and interface. How do they plan to spend the influx of cash they just received? Do they have plans to buy other, smaller art sites?
