Do you make arts and crafts that you would love to showcase and sell? Or, do you love to buy original, homemade items? DaWanda is an online market place where you can buy and sell homemade products. Based in France, the UK, and Germany, the site is also a social networking site. In my opinion, it molds the two mediums perfectly, as artists and buyers can connect and communicate while also buying and selling from each other. You can also give comments on products, rate products, and of course exchange ideas on the group forums. Finally, you can always search or browse for products with names, tags or categories. When you sell an item they charge you 5% commission on the sales price of the item sold. They do not charge any fees on the shipping costs.

In their own words
DaWanda is a market place where you can buy and sell unique, customised and handmade products made by talented people. It is also a community where you can get and give inspiration and feedback, interact with others, exchange your ideas with people who share the same hobby or passion as you and much more. DaWanda is about people and their products: it is a place where you can discover original and quality products as well as the people who have a passion to create and to share their creations and where you can contribute by sharing your ideas and what you like and by giving inspiration.
Why it might be a killer
DaWanda is a great online marketplace for artists and small businesses, as well as a fun social networking site. The beauty of creating a site for diverse art and crafts by a variety of sources is the ability to create an equally diverse and inspiring social network for those who share the same passions. The site is highly professional and easy to use.
Some questions
I was happy to finally find the tab that linked to the most popular artists and products, but I had to browse around a bit to find it. I recommend that information get integrated to the homepage or at least highlighted for easier discovery. Are they going to join the US, Latin American or Asian markets later?
