BidSL.com - Auction in Real or Second Life

BidSL.com is a brand new site that opened less than a week ago on Saturday, September 8th. The company has an auction service where you can sell either actual physical goods, or virtual goods through SecondLife.com. For those of you unfamiliar with SecondLife, it is a website where people basically do what the name of the site insinuate, live their second lives. On SecondLife, you can buy real estate, get married, have kids, start a business, and now apparently, use the equivalent of eBay with BidSL.com, now most of the auctions will be for virtual goods that have a very real value. Over the last 24 hours there were over a million US dollars spent in SecondLife.

BidSL is an auction venue for the residents of Second Life. Auction units located at BidSL locations within Second Life allow residents to sell or bid 24/7. BidSL also holds once-a-week live auctions hosted by a live auctioneer.

If people in Second Life can buy land and own businesses, cars and such, why shouldn't they be able to auction them off as well? BidSL has definitely carved themselves into a nice niche with this one.

The site is totally dependent on the success of Second Life, and thought it is doing very well now, if it does happen to collapse for any reason, this company will come tumbling down with it.
