Shop Onrez is a newly revapped online boutique from the Electric Sheep Company where you can spend your Second Life Linden dollars on anything from Xena-inspired weaponry to bubble gum pink Francoise flats. Goods are divided into six categories: apparel, avatar customization, scripted objects, home and garden, poses and animations and miscellaneous. Searching for a favorite brand? Check out the site’s seller directory—vendors are listed alphabetically. New improvements have made it much simpler for merchants to display their wares. There’s batch editing, so items of a similar type can be edited simultaneously. Sellers can also now upload inworld textures of products which also means that these products can be searched for within Second Life itself. The marketplace has apparently made some significant real world ingressions as meatspace items can be bought for metaverse money.

“OnRez is a growing suite of software services designed for users of virtual worlds, with an initial focus on Second Life. Our goal is to make virtual worlds easier to use and help information flow more efficiently within and across virtual worlds and the Web. It is a big goal, and it has us working on many paths like shopping, search, social networking and even the open source Second Life client itself.”
| Why it might be a killer | |||
OnRez has a well constructed marketplace whose interface facilitates both shopping and buying. Its renovations and new features could potentially put it on par and even above other established SL stores.

How will onRez compete with the similar, but more established SLExchange? Will OnRez be able to satisfy the demands of SL vendors?
