Secretly a fan of "Antiques RoadShow"? The PBS hit made antiquing somewhat cool. It made that lurking suspicion you had that all that junk you bought at garages sales on the cheap may actually be worth something. Now there's a new website that follows the whole Antiques Roadshow theme of antiques, memorabilia, and collectibles. It's called WorthPoint and it's part social networking for antiques enthusiasts and a part blog that has everything you need to know about antiques, prices and auctions. Users can consult WorthPoint's Worthopedia to learn more about antiques and collectibles. They can buy or sell items for the best price and consult WorthPoint's own experts, the so-called Worthologists for help on brokering, buying or whatever questions that may come up. The site is free to use. Simply register and join.

In their own words
"WorthPoint has organized the world’s information on collectibles into a central library or “worth” database - the Worthopedia. You have access to this wealth of data on prices, descriptions, pictures and sale dates, compiled from hundreds of auction houses. It’s easy to find and compare items to determine the value of your collectibles. Through our communities, you can connect with other collectors interested in buying, selling, or swapping stories and share your insight and knowledge through our forums and wikis."
Why it might be a killer
WorthPoint is good place to get started if you've just gotten into collectibles and it's great if you're already a pro but want to broaden your network of friends. It's a comprehensive site with a good user interface and plenty of helpful features.
Some questions
Is WorthPoint the best place to buy and sell your antiques? Where do the experts come from? And can they be relied on?
