    WordCountJournal.com - Journal by Number

    wordcountjournal

WordCountJournal.com uses baby steps to users to start writing. You can start by writing an entry of only one word. Then, the next day you write an entry with two, and the next with three, till you´re easily writing 365 words a day and have written as many words as can be found in the typical novel. This makes journal writing approachable and fun. You don´t have to stick to the word number count, but it´s a fun idea to try and add one more word to your entry everyday.

    In their own words

“Sometimes a little bit really does go a long way. In Word Count Journal, by gradually building up your writing stamina and discipline, you will see just how easy it is to get a whole lot done. By simply writing a set number of words each day, every day, you will write a whopping 66,795 words at the end of one calendar year. Little by little, through the power of series, the total of your written words will add up to more words than contained in the average novel.

Why it might be a killer

This is a fun way to write a journal for people who are intimidated by lots of blank pages. Seeing the development over 365 days is a neat idea that is unlike any other site. If people really post to their journal everyday, adding one more word to the entry word number each time, they will definitely develop their writing skills with all of the practice. No other site approaches journal writing in this way.

    Some questions

How will they advertise their site? Right now there are hardly any users on the page, which makes for only a handful of groups and makes it a lot harder to find similarities in the journal you are writing and of those of your neighbors. Right now the site is completely free, without any advertisements or way of income for the site starters. When will the advertising be added? Will people be interested in advertising when there´s already so many sites for people to journal on and make their space more personal with a larger community? Will the counting function make them stand out enough?
