In their own words
"Wellocities was founded in 2007 and was created to improve the lives of Canadians with chronic conditions. By allowing people to share health experiences, it is our hope that others will choose wisely. Almost all of us know of some one who has been touched by illness and has had to cope with it everyday for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, not everyone has the social circle to help them manage their condition. Wellocities missions is to help patients and caregivers find health information and services, monitor health conditions and most importantly learn from others on similar health tracks. We are a privately held company consisting of a team of dedicated healthcare providers, patients, entrepreneurs and Web developers. By combining forces it is our belief that we can make a positive contribution to the health of Canadians.
Wellocities is where health meets social networking, where you can get support from shared community experiences, find others on similar health tracks and see how they are managing their condition, and access relevant health resources.
Sincerely,
The Wellocities Team"
Why it might be a killer
Wellocities.com has an attractive interface the dark green heading is very handsome. The Wellocities.com logo is very unique; the reflection of the Canadian flag is very clever. The site is easy to navigate and has very detailed clear content. The journey feature is a great feature that helps individuals with diabetes and individuals who have family members with diabetes. It is true that an illness changes someone's life, and it is a challenge that they will always have to face. Giving users tools to help cope with an illness is the best service the site can provide. A community that discusses their experience will help others, and that is the main purpose of Wellocities.com.
Some questions
Will Wellocities.com expand its services and purpose to other countries? It would be a nice feature if the site was also translated into French for the French Canadians. Having videos on the users' profiles would be a great way for people to share their story. Many communities are including videos now so that people can express themselves better. There should be a ranking system for the health providers so that users can see which health provider is the most qualified.
