    Virb.com - A Social Networking Revolution

    virb

Forget the clutter and applications that never work of MySpace and check out the new social network that will blow all others away. Virb has all of the typical social networking features, plus much much more. As they say, “Virb is…music, video, blogs, fashion, photography, design, comedy, art, sports, compassion.” The reason I´ve enjoyed playing around on the site is all of the little details. For instance, when you´re watching a video, you can click on the little light bulb image next to it which causes all of the window to go dark, as if someone had turned off the lights in the room so that you can more clearly watch your video. Another feature I love is their “Remove Customization” button. This means that if you´re looking at someone´s profile but having a hard time reading their text because of the colors they´ve chosen or their background image, you can just click on the button and you see all of the data in the default Virb profile layout.

    In their own words

“Virb is a community website that combines social interaction with music and entertainment exploration. It"s a great way to keep in touch and meet people with similar interests. Use Virb to discover music, videos, cool companies and organizations... then share what you find with your friends.

Why it might be a killer

They solve the problems people have with MySpace and make it much better, and MySpace has been a huge success, so if they can convince enough people to switch over, they definitely have a winner. They´re still working on their advertising page, but it will be ready soon. They could easily make a profit off many aspects of their site since they have an area for companies. You can tell there´s still a lot more to come from this site.

    Some questions

How will they get the word out enough to convince enough people to move over and social network on their site instead of where they´re already situated with their profile all set up and their friends all in place? If they could get some of the big names that are on MySpace, this could move a lot of people (for me, that would be the cast of the Office). Are they planning on targeting these kinds of MySpace high profilers?
