In their own words
Dirk Wagner wrote: “Tutors came to be when I got a phone call from my fellow tutor Natalya. She was approached by Ryan â€" a student asking her to tutor PHP. The student was looking for help with PHP for weeks but was unable locate such a tutor. In his frustration Ryan called up any tutor whose profile contained programming. Natalya had such a profile. Although Natalya is a computer science major she does not tutor PHP. What stunned me is that I specialize in PHP and I live in Ryan´s vicinity. But Ryan was unable to locate me on the web. More precisely the search feature of the web site that carried my profile was rather poor so that Ryan was unable to locate me. I thought to myself that here is a real opportunity to help both students and tutors. Presto, Tutorz was born.
Why it might be a killer
It´s simple to use and so many people use Tutorz. Having an easy site to find the tutor you´re looking for without having to search a newspaper or craigslist makes everything much easier, and tutors can easily find work without having to pay for a newspaper ad. They offer a service that is unique.
Some questions
How will they spread the word of their site? How will they inform tutors of the service they are offering and how will people know to look at the site to find the tutors they´re searching for?
