TheCommon.org - Matching Abilities with Needs

TheCommon.org is a network that connects needs with ability.

Every community has needs and everyone has abilities, TheCommon.org works to match these needs and abilities so that people can get projects done. To begin you can register your community. If you are not sure if your community has already registered you can search for it on the search engine. You can then add members to your community and start building your community’s ability list. All members must be approved, meaning that their identity must be verified before they join the community. Once you have your abilities listed you can start adding the needs of your community. When the abilities of the community’s needs and abilities are listed a queue will show up with abilities that match your needs and needs that match your abilities, then you are ready to go. You can see the process of a project, the green means the project is in progress and the yellow means it is waiting for facilitation. When we all give a helping hand we can get anything accomplished. Lend a hand and receive another at TheCommon.org.

The Common.org has an attractive interface, the multitude of people definitely gets the point of the site across. The site does a great job at explaining the goal of the community. The progress feature on the site is useful so you can see how a project is going. Having a facilitator may seem like an annoying rule but it is a good way to monitor a project and make sure that it is getting done.
