Created by a 22 year old law student in London, Techsted is a news aggregator which also doubles as a study of memes. Techsted searches the web for the latest tech related news, and ranks and rates the results using an algorithm. So you get stories about cable companies and Google, but unlike other news aggregators, Techsted tries to unearth the workings of memetrackers. It categorizes news stories into four main classifications: Inverted or unique stories, those not popular with the mainstream press, money or dealings, which has to do with acquisitions, fund raising and investments, launch, and rumors. Users can find unique news items not picked up by memetrackers, by category (or time frame, i.e. most recent) and they can search for stories by tags. They can also recommend new items for submission.
