Takeacoder.com - United Freelancers of the World

    takeacoder

Take a Coder aims to be the eBay of the freelancing world- “Buyers” post jobs that they need done and “sellers,” or working professionals, bid on the chance to perform those tasks. Buyers post a variety of jobs, ranging from html coding to copywriting to house painting. Individuals that are skilled in that specific field then bid the job, and after a select number of days, the buyer selects a worker. Workers and buyer are also rated on a system similar to eBay, so those with higher ratings are given a higher vote of confidence. Take a Coder charges a small commission ($5 or 8.5%, whichever is higher), per job.

    In their own words

“TakeACoder is the first World Job's Auction service! It is a Global Marketplace for Freelance Services working in more then 200 countries worldwide. Our system boosts your chances to get your projects done fast and gives you competitive advantages. It's a virtual marketplace for buyers and providers from all over the world.”

Why it might be a killer

Not only does Take a Coder apply a proven model to a new industry, but the site is different from many freelance websites out there because it has a global focus. Moreover, because projects are based on bids, skilled freelancers with less experience still have a chance of getting hired.

    Some questions

Can Take a Coder succeed without a makeover? The site is overwhelming and hard to navigate. The front page has dozens of things flashing and there’s no keyword search.
