Are you looking for a new way to stay ahead of or define fashion trends? StyleHop may be the site for you. Still in Alpha mode (so a lot of functions are not yet integrated into the site), StyleHop hopes to present style in a forum outside of magazines, advertisements, and celebrity-endorsed trends.

Members will provide information about themselves (age, gender, location, etc) and regularly play style ranking games. These games will determine style preferences and trends as expressed by the populace, rather than by select style editors. The search tools will be particularly interesting- for example, users will be able to search for “most popular dresses for 30-year-old women in Miami.” Users can also rank their style savvy against other members.

StyleHop takes an alternative approach to fashion. It has the potential to be the ultimate arena for street fashion, for determining actual fashion wants (rather than what advertisers have told us to buy), and also a forum to make interesting demographic comparisons. Ultimately, this could turn the fashion industry on its head, with consumers presenting their wants and demands to the design houses.

It seems like to collect data and ultimately survive; users will have to frequently and regularly play these games. How will members respond? Will frequent users from one demographic skew general or overall fashion results?
