Spout.com - Online Film and Video Community

    spout

Fuel-efficient cars should not be the only hybrids getting buzz; Spout, a hybrid that although is not expressedly environment friendly, turns out to be a clever little cross-breed of Myspace and Netflix. The service provides you with tools to make informed decisions about which movies you´ll put in your queue, hear buzz from other spout members about films ranging from the supersize cineplexes to the tiniest artsy-fartsy film festivals. Their goal is to promote the movies which people watched and enjoyed in stead of only the movies who have a big enough budget to advertise. You are instantly connected with others who share your love of films of all genres, are awarded with a personal profile, which is modified each time you leave a comment about a film. You can purchase DVDs on the site, to help support their cause. By the way, their cause is a bit audacious, that being... change the world. Pretty ambitious for a startup, but perhaps this will, in turn, affect the life of the film.

    In their own words

“You probably noticed spout.com has a lot of tools to slice and dice what you want to say about movies in reviews, lists, ratings, tags, discussions, messages, et cetera. But what those tools don"t tell you is at Spout we"re embarrassingly optimistic about the power of a story. In fact, our belief in that power is why Spout exists.
