Aggregators come in all shapes and colors. The content, though, does not change that much.
This new online resource aims to make something of a difference by
highlighting stories in a different manner. The basic premise is that these stories that do become listed on Splurb are featured because they have been included in more than one
popular social site. The links are then sorted not only by popularity (a la Digg) but also by the actual number of sources. The concept is nothing radical, but it gives every item that is featured at least an added ounce of credibility.
Leaving aside that particularity, the site has a standard structure which includes the ever-present list of categories. There are no surprises there, if only because categories are standardized by now and a site which collects the best on the web must have the ones we all are familiarized with – “Entertainment”, “News”, “Politics”, “Programming”, “Technology”…
While the site is different, I am not exactly sure if that difference will make it stand head and shoulders above the rest. In any case, it is worth visiting in person in order to sample it first-hand.
