SizeMonkey.com - Get the Right Sized Gift

    sizemonkey

Some new startups make me chuckle, because they fill such a small yet significant niche. SizeMonkey is one of those sights. SizeMonkey aims to help your loved ones get you the right sized clothing and/or the right gift. You simply sign up (for free), input your all of your sizes and even certain gifts you may want, give your member name to your loved ones, and they can then see all of your information and get you the gift they want. That's pretty cool. They can even download your information from their cell phone. The site could use a professional touchup for copy editing and marketing (I had a hard time really digesting exactly how the site worked, despite the creator insisting it was "boob" proof), but the idea is a great one.

    In their own words

How many times have you received the wrong shirt or pants size, the wrong color or wrong gift? Too many to count seems to be the standard response. The solution; signup for SizeMonkey and we will store all of your clothing information related to size, color, and preferential gift list. You can also store the perfect gift, perfect date, and other information so people get you the item you want. Use our free Gift Registry service for Weddings, Birthdays, Baby showers, Holidays, Graduations, Christmas or any other special occasion. Create your own personal gift registry.

Why it might be a killer

When a website marries functionality with fun, it shows great potential. SizeMonkey was created by a couple with a great sense of humor. They started a site based on a great idea, and it deserves a second or third look. Maybe they could partner with some popular shopping sites or major chain stores to get this idea really going.

    Some questions

Why not invest in a professional marketer and copy writer to get this idea out where it needs to be, and in a manner where people take it seriously. I like the tongue-in-cheek personality of the site, but the site deserves a dab of professional input to make it more palatable with the mainstream. How do they hope to make a profit?

    Updates

Great to be listed! We are waiting for the TechCrunch20 to begin to launch the beta 2 of the site and a redesigned backend written in ColdFusion. We take your comments to heart and will be making sure that they go in to the new site.
