In their own words
“After giving birth to her daughter, our founder, Stacey Boyd, quickly realized that there are very few resources to help parents navigate choosing and gaining admission to preschools. So she turned to friends who already had children in preschool and realized that her parent friends were a treasure trove of useful information. Not one to keep the inside scoop to herself, she wondered if there was a way to harness all of the information she had gathered in a format from which other parents could benefit. Stacey talked up the idea with some friends, and over some of her famous goat cheese tarts last spring, a small group met at Stacey's home to begin making Stacey's brainchild a reality - and thus The Savvy Source for Parents was born!
We started with about a half dozen moms in San Francisco and in less than one year, we have spread to 17 cities across the country, with many more cities in the pipeline. We have been able to spread so quickly because thousands of parents have been generous enough to share their experiences with other parents. And if you are one of those parents, we sincerely thank you!
We have also received tremendous support from preschool directors. With the help of leading childhood development experts, we created a survey for school directors to complete. As you will see, the director survey asks directors to provide parents with all sorts of useful tidbits from what "a day in the life" is like at their preschool to how the school handles discipline, to teacher/student ratios, and much more.
We believe that the depth and quantity of parent reviews and the first-hand information from school directors makes this the most informative web site about preschools in the country. We hope that you will agree.”
Why it might be a killer
SavvySource.com has an attractive interface. The site has many beauty shots of children and parents that give you that warm feeling inside. The site is easy to navigate and is well organized. There are many filters to help you find a preschool that fits your needs and criteria such as , class size, tuition levels, etc... The description of each preschool is very thorough and includes all the information you could possibly look for even application forms. The most valuable information would be the parents rating of the school. The goggle map is a great feature that will help you see how close the preschool is to home.
Some questions
SavvySource.com should have a list of the top 10 preschools for each state. SavvySource.com should have more lists such as top 10 day cares and other child care services. SavvySource.com could also feature educational videos and resources for children.
