    ProjectReadOn.com - Video & audio captions

    projectreadon

Are you tired of wanting to find captioned news clips, or movies, and all you find is a selective assortment of captioned media? Project readOn allows users to view captions of numerous types of media. Just search through their large, diverse array of video clips, and choose which one you want to watch, while viewing the captions. The integrity of the site which the video is taken from is protected, because the caption box appears in a separate floating window, which allows for complete, unobstructed viewing of the video. When you select the video, it brings you to the original site of the video. If Project readOn does not have the video you are looking to view with captions, submit a request, and they will do their best to create a caption for it.

    In their own words

“Project readOn is a team of people with the singular goal of making online media content available to all, whether you are hard of hearing, simply cannot or do not want sound on, or if the content is in a language other than your native tongue. We have built a very simple to use standalone caption player that allows for universal access to online media. Our mission is to distribute this service to as many people globally who need it.”

Why it might be a killer

There are many people who are unable to listen to the sound of the video, whether it is due to a quiet environment, or a difficulty of hearing. With Project readOn it brings captions of content to the online community, allowing everyone to enjoy the full use of the internet. It provides captions for up-to-date content that users actually want, as well as offering the possibility to request a caption of something not included. Also, in the future, it is planning on bringing captions in multiple languages, which can help bridge the language gap of the internet.

    Some questions

How long does it take to caption a requested video clip? Will it be marketed heavily towards the deaf community? Will the site categorize the captioned clips?
