PreRated.com - Tech Product Reviews

So you’ve seen the commercials of the magic robot that cleans carpets and looks cute, or maybe you want to check out the new Grand Theft Auto, but aren’t really sure if either are worth the bucks. You could buy them, try them, and then return them, or you could skip the time, gas miles, and hassle and visit PreRated instead. PreRated is a review site for consumer electronics and tech related products. It works kind of like Digg. You submit a product, provide a short review and rate the product. Everyone gives their opinion and rating, and the highest rated products make it to the front page. Products are searchable by category (Mobile Tech, Office, Appliances, etc) or by key word.

PreRated is Digg for products. It’s a method that worked for Digg and consumer reviews are always welcome especially if it’s a big purchase.

The site has a design that’s not very appealing or useable. Will this deter users? Why not make something more navigable and user friendly? How do they expect to stay afloat?
