    Pikeo.com - A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

    pikeo

Pikeo.com is a community where you can share your pictures with your friends and family. Pikeo.com lets you upload all of your photos and put them into smart albums that are categorized by geographic location and other tags which describe the album. When you create your profile other people will see your pictures, the albums you created, the tags you have, any groups you are in, any friends you have and a map with icons representing where you photos are from. When you are looking at someone's profile you can choose to see all of their photos, you can view a slide show, or choose an album to look at or click on one of the points on the map to see the photos from that location. You can search for photos by just entering a word in the search engine. You could spend hours searching through all of the interesting photos. Have fun posting your photos and appreciating other members photos as well.

    In their own words

"• We think that pictures tell better stories when you can give people some idea of where they were taken. Pikeo lets you look at your pictures along with a map showing 'the scenes of your crimes'.
    • Pikeo also helps you organise your pictures in smart albums based on 'what', 'where', and 'who' information (called 'tags'). You can decide which of your pictures you want to share with your family, friends and everyone else, and which ones you want no one to see. Ever, ever.
    • Best of all, you'll be in full control of your community via our innovative 'Contacts' browsing tool – which lets you keep the riff-raff out (unless your family and friends are riff-raff. That's for you to decide )."

Why it might be a killer

Pikeo.com has an attractive interface that really does a good job at getting the viewer interested in the site. The map feature is great because you can get a good idea of where users are from and where they have traveled. You can send photos from your camera to Pikeo.com. The user also has control over their privacy settings. If you only want friends and family to see your photos then that can be arranged.

    Some questions

There are other photo sharing sites and social communities such as WebShots. Will Pikeo.com have any difficulties competing with such sites? It would be interesting if Pikeo.com included artistic and travel videos to the site. Videos could be tagged on the map just like the photos.
