Paltalk.com - Stay in Touch with Video Chat

    paltalk

Paltalk is a video conferencing/chat tool . If you think trad chat rooms are a tad stale and fake (too many 40 year old men parading as teenaged heart throbs) Paltalk is different. It has over 4,000 video chat rooms, with topics ranging from love and sweethearts, to the 2008 primaries. That’s right, you’ll actually be able to see whom you’re talking to. There are also some swank video overlays which let you create webcam animations to liven up the atmosphere. You can also play games and download music. To keep in touch with all your personal pals, Paltalk is compatible with the major IM services-- AOL, Yahoo and ICQ . The service is completely free, but you’ve got to have Windows 2000 or higher to download it.

    In their own words

“ Paltalk is the largest video chat community on the Internet with over four million active members participating in live voice- and video-enabled chat rooms. We allow thousands of simultaneous users to communicate using video and voice all in the same chat room. The Paltalk Messenger is also compatible with leading instant messaging (IM) services.”

Why it might be a killer

Paltalk has given chat a facelift, literally. Video chatting is much more personal and dynamic than mere texting. It’s easier to screen potential perverts. It makes staying in touch with granny dearest so much more tactile and real. Paltalk also gets points for media sharing; the new Screening rooms create a new dynamic for watching videos.

    Some questions

Will Paltalk expand to include other IM clients like Skype or MSN? What about Mac users? Will users want to pay for premium services?

    Updates

Paltalk has just launched Screening Rooms which allows up to 5,000 chatters to watch streaming videos simultaneously.
