Nuze2Me.com - A Personalized News Magazine
Nuze2me is a next-generation aggregator for “soft” news – entertainment, sports, music etc. It collects and collates news from hundreds of trusted news sources around the Internet and lets users browse stories using a state-of-the-art web interface.
What makes Nuze2me unique is that the news it shows is highly personalized to each reader. Users “rate” the people, teams and bands they want to hear about and the site instantly adapts to their preferences. The higher they rate a name, the more stories they see about them. Users add and rate names while they read by hovering over highlighted names in stories, by clicking on people shown in the “suggestion box” or by using the easy-to-use search box.
The result is a personalized news magazine that gives the user all the news they want to read in one place, without the need to skim through large numbers of stories they’re not interested in. Users can keep track of their favorite topics, even when they are rarely reported on or are written about in obscure places. For more popular people they can “turn down the noise” and only see big stories.
Nuze2me also makes reading the news more interactive. Readers can view a picture and details about the people mentioned in stories simply by hovering over the names. If they like the person they can “tag” him right there and they will see more stories about him. As with other news sites, clicking on a headline opens the original article in a new tab or window.
Nuze2me is designed so that anyone can use it and get great results. No knowledge is required except knowing who you want to read about. The news is presented in a slick, modern web application. Page refreshes are rendered unnecessary as the application loads new data on demand when the user scrolls or changes their settings.
Users can also choose to have stories about certain people sent to them by e-mail or text message. Native applications for iPhone, Windows Mobile and Blackberry will be shortly introduced, providing even richer fine-grained notification mechanisms.
The Nuze2me engine is intelligent and context-sensitive. It is custom-tuned for specific subject areas – currently entertainment, sports and music news. Why Nuze2me.com might be a killer
A “personal newspaper” has long been considered one of the holy grails of the Internet. Who wouldn’t want a news site that contains all the stories that are interesting to them? Nuze2me comes the closest so far to achieving that goal and is the first such product to address the needs of all users, not just technical ones.
Other products have attempted to create personalized news. They fall into two categories – ones that try to “learn” what you like and ones you set up with keywords and feeds. The first category have so far failed to be more than a curiosity, since they don’t do their job well enough to be useful for the average person.
