MyFitBuddy.com - Keep Track of Workouts Online

    myfitbuddy

Need a kick in the backside to get up off the couch, ditch the Fritos, and lose your extra flab? Check out MyFitBuddy.com, a new social exercise website which lets you track your progress, find friends with similar goals, learn how to do exercises correctly, and discover new workout methods. Users may register for free and then create their personal profiles to begin using the site; you can take a tour without being signed up but in order to access all the site's features you must have a login name. Ran a sub 5 mile yesterday? Plug in your workout results into the "Workouts" sections of your account to see how close you're coming to your goal and how much more work you have to do. You can view this information in chart or graph form. Not seeing any progress? You may want to check out what other people are doing via the "Buddies" feature, which lets you add friends with similar workout interests. If you're a workout beginner, you can also find out what types of exercises will help you reach your goal through the site's search feature (for example, a search for "pecs" yields the names of exercises that will work your chest muscles). If you're a visual learner, the site also provides instructional videos (provided by external video search engines). Registration is free.

    In their own words

"MyFitBuddy.com aims to be the simplest tool to track and monitor your exercise activity".

Why it might be a killer

Exercise communities are often necessary for sedentary people to get motivated. MyFitBuddy taps into this necessity well with their site's exercise-with-a-2.0-spin mentality. The site's instructional video feature in particular is really helpful, especially for those that need a visual to understand how to perform a certain exercise.

    Some questions

Where is there a place where users can enter in their weight, heart rate during workout or BMI? It would be helpful for the site to allow users to plot these numbers against their workout information. To be really successful, the site may need to add more features and allow users to create a more in-depth profile.
