    In their own words

“MyCoupons.com has an interesting history. Originally the site and service was called CouponsDirect from 1994 to 1996. Our initial mission was to get offline merchants to list their offline coupons, online, on a local level. As we grew we began to index more and more coupons. We would scout out all/any coupon we found online, and listed them on the site. We changed our site name to CouponDirectory in 1997 as we became more of a directory of coupons, when we started to index more and more coupons. As time went on, we were able to grow a very large online coupon community. At the time, it was the largest and only one of its kind in the world. In 1999, we bought the domain name MyCoupons.com and changed our name to MyCoupons.com as we became centered around being more than a directory of coupons - but more of a community and directory. In 2000, we sold MyCoupons to a Valassis subsidiary Save.com. The subsidiary went bankrupt within 18 months of the sale, so we were able to acquire MyCoupons back from Save.com before bankruptcy. As the marketplace changed, and the dot com bubble burst, our mother company (Direct Response Technologies, Inc.) began focusing more on their technology related services (DirectTrack and KeywordMax). MyCoupons was relegated to a self service model, with little direction or focus. Our community started dying off, and traffic plummeted. In first quarter of 2006, Direct Response Technologies, Inc was sold to Digital River (NASDAQ: DRIV), and MyCoupons was bought back by our Founder from DRIV post transaction. Since then, MyCoupons has undergone a transformation. We have been invested into again by our founder, we have expanded our staff significantly, and we put together a new business plan and vision for MyCoupons. We have been vigorously building up our new site and service (which launched March 17, 2007). We look forward to the re-birth of the internets oldest online coupon site, as well as helping millions of people save billions of dollars every year.”

Why it might be a killer

The site provides its users the chance to save some cash when shopping online. In addition looking for codes is really easy, and the same goes for using them.

    Some questions

How reliable are the codes the site provides if most of them are uploaded by users? Wouldn’t it be good if before posting the codes the site checks that the codes are original?
