Multiverse.net - The Future Of MMOGs

    multiverse

Since Everquest came into the scene, massive online worlds took off and they haven’t stopped growing since. While it might not seem like it, creating these massively multiplayer online experiences can be expensive for developers. To ensure the continued growth of massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs), the folks at Multiverse.net have come up with a very interesting conceptual tool. These ex Netscape programmers, have come up with a great idea. With the Multiverse technology, programmers will be able to easily create online environments for people to enjoy. Players with a Multiverse account will be able to access all of these online worlds, making for a more diverse play environment and lessened production costs. This gives developers a free pass to create the online worlds they’ve only dreamed of. The site hopes that players who have passed off on online gaming will find these new possibilities attracting.

    In their own words

“Multiverse's unique technology platform will change the economics of virtual world development by empowering independent game developers to create high-quality, Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs)”

Why it might be a killer

Online worlds have always drawn people to them. This could bring even more people to the picture.

    Some questions

Are online world going to keep growing like they’ve been doing? Won’t people realize that normal life is a lot better?
